My Punctured Boat…

I pushed my boat out of its shed today,
dragged the heavy structure all the way
to the frozen waters of nothingness.

The blistering sun and the mute sky
being the only witness to my cry.

Just to see it ride beyond the numbness,
towards something new,
something unknown, anything beyond my ‘me’.

I followed a call from the other side (of the horizon),
A voice without a name, without an identity,
But it was real, at least to me!

Reality itself has changed now as I can’t read my compass anymore.
In these alien waters, the voice has left me in denial.
With no hope and no respite I reached the other side,
only to find another horizon, another voice.

And I keep sailing on my punctured boat
that I got in legacy from the yellow pages of history

Relief in Pain

The doors are closed
And the wait is over.
The forbidden dream which used to
shine in the corner of my eye, is gone
The calmness in the rage of anger is not there
in the silent alleys of nothingness.

Never thought that I could become this person
Never thought I would be relieved of the sweet pain
The tears have dried and the smirk is all that there is
Loneliness did not keep its promises
And I got betrayed by myself.

I feel something in my head but it’s not me.

I wait on the doorstep for more of it,
Lives waiting to be dead,
This morning would be different, I assume,
No tanks blasting, no buildings going in fume.

What is beautiful and what is not?
What is right and what is wrong?
Just directions,
Leading everyone to their home.

The maze is open at all ends,
Death stares at the prisoner in the eye,
But do you have it in you,
To not know what will become of you?

The Human Chart

I see humans on a chart,
Segregated according to their part(s)
The chain would not last,
without every link in the cast.

Is that the only meaning of existence?
To play your role in the act
being the predator and the prey.

No one runs it yet everyone makes it.
No central power, no conditioning.
We produce to consume,
Each one of our offspring

Power is bought and sold,
The illusion is to be timid and bold.
One second can change years of existence,
One tear can overcome a million smiles.

Why should there be any end to it?
Finite is a human term, for the people within.
But the chart scrolls down to infinite.

A pot of water is boiling on the stove,
A green leaf soaked in it.
Have you ever felt the heat of boiling water?
The leaf shrinks into something without a name.
It feels like satans touch or God’s wrath
What’s the difference anyway?
When you look in the bubbles formed by a hundred Celsius
Then the world seems different
Things expand and shrink at the same time,
Words exist and don’t exist in the same rhyme.
A dog left astray, a species domesticated.
Houses of words and parliaments of sentences.
The heat and the powerless utensils
The leaf leaves a smell,
Like a cat with a bell.
You can find your way back to it,
But you can never see what was never there.

A broken Stallion

We found us in the sheds of the black city,
The battle was never fought,
Addiction was the only game known to us,
And death was all that we sought.

Sometimes in the morbid stained sheets
Or the murky corners of psychosomatic streets,
We crossed paths like strangers,
But everyone was aware of our common factors.

The birds refused to chirp in our forest,
And daylight was too glorious, to reach our breast.
Such was our destiny,
unknown even to us.

When everything was lost,
We found each other,
in a sub-conscious dilemma.

The photograph shows a smiling face,
Not because we were pleased,
But that’s what you do when asked to
Say cheese.

It was tough but we stuck together,
Fighting the rain and defeating pleasure,
In that bed we found each other.

With the company nothing felt old,
Not even our perpetual cold
Drugs stopped working on us,
As we were already high to the core

And that last race! What a tale it was,
We ran like a dream,
Piercing through our pasts,
towards a reality unreal before.

Rivers of my country

Water gains life, as it flows down a hill,
I sit by! trying to distinguish one rapid from another.
Have you ever done that?
It’s like telling one face from the other.

The rivers in my country don’t acknowledge the birth of Christ,
They travel from beyond time.
The flow of my rivers cannot be found in the boxes of your calendar,
They flow through me and you can’t even see.

As I sit beside him, she whispers me stories,
a hundred deaths and two ninety nine lives.
She lets me visit his deepest banks,
from creator to the destroyer, everything there lies.

You might hold me guilty for falsehood,
“how can you understand her tongue?
His language is long forgotten”
And I reply with nothing but defiance.

The river is driven by gravity, not your definition of clarity,

Playing in the battlefield,
Screaming in the heart,
Nothing is greater,
Everything will be left behind.

Beyond the end lies innocence,
the freshness of not fearing to lose,
is the greatest gift,
turn the steering, try a new drift.

Weeds are also necessary,
Flowers are not the only beauty,
Knowing oneself in void of time
is the path to break the time wrap…

Looking beyond the edge is a crime,

And artists are murdered on the crossing.

Life ends just the way it started.

Colours are identified by each other,

One view has no value.

If its not better than the other,

Dreams are a curse,

And imagination not needed.

Why don’t we clone instead?

At least nothing will be wasted.

A Life, half Lived!!

Faces of incompleteness haunt my existence,
Strolling through miseries,
I come across thousands of masks.

Masks that get us through our days,
And behind them a rotten person fails to breathe.
We cry at night, unable to sleep.

Is this how we were supposed to be?
Looking for a walking stick,
building imaginary stories brick by brick.

A smile amidst a all these screams shock me,
An infant is delighted by reaching his mothers breast,
Are we any different?
The only difference is that we fail to recognize our happiness.

Each person seems to be snipped,
As if the other half is waiting somewhere else,
But we close our ears, ignoring the holy bells.

Life ends just the way it started,
All we learn is that learning kills,
One person is pulled back by another,
All of us keep playing this game, killing our own brother.

She drove past a wedding ceremony,
A celebration in the foreign land brought a smile to her sulked face.
Life was going to change forever as soon as she would read the next message.
Her eyes had a thick layer of kajal and her hair was parted with a pinch of red powder.

She had always dreamt of saying her last words in her husband’s arms,
Living a free life yet following the norms.
Life had been a field of experiments to her,
Wearing a yellow saree with with an overcoat of fur.

In her eyes, one could see all those she had met,
It was like a walk through countless emotions.
She sang like a nightingale,
bringing delight to everyone who cared to listen.

Who would know, that all this would change in a second,
As she pressed that button, singing her husbands favorite rhyme,
Missing him, trying to kill away this lonely time.
The officer had left the message,
Hopping somebody would come and collect the package.

“Your husband passed away at five fifty five,
We request you to come and recognize.”
She ran as far she could,
gasping for breath she fell on her knees.
After a minutes silence, she screamed as if this was it…

Sometimes I stop by the sky,
Watching the raindrops flooding the rooftops.
I think… which to the world
Seems like a blink.
Why am I here?
Is it just the fear of death…?

Am I going crazy?
My nerves are frenzy,

For the world to see.
How does it matter?

Then I look into her eyes
And all of it makes sense,
The smiles and the cries.

Sometimes sitting all alone,
I don’t care to give in or defend.
It feels like the world is coming to an end.

Then I kiss her,
And suddenly the equation seems to be clear,
The one’s far away and the one’s near.

Sometimes I feel captured in time,
I am urged to commit the crime,
And see the world go by from six feet under.

And I realize why they made tanks and farms…

White and black were in a fight.

I saw a universe,a life in reverse.

My Grandma’s flabby arm,my brother’s charismatic charm.

They were all alive.Breathing and feeding.

Feeding on my brain,my thoughts were going through a drain.

A starving beggar’s five star meal,

A loosing gambler’s winning deal.

I have seen it all falling apart,my brain and her heart.

Streams of blood,Emotions flood.

But does it count?

In the end who decideswho lives and who dies???
